More information

A week of urban dance classes and nights of dancing, made for adults: every level on the same floor, everyone at their own pace and nobody planning your free time for you. In Spain, August–September 2027.

What is an adult dance camp?

It’s a whole week spent dancing: morning and afternoon classes, something on almost every night and the same people in class, over lunch and at the jam. The difference from a youth camp is everything outside class. Nobody supervises you and there’s no school-trip feel: you pick your classes, when to rest and which night plan to join. UTOPIC is a one-week dance camp for adults in Spain, open to dancers from all over Europe and beyond, and its last edition had 23 choreography classes of 90 minutes each over seven days.

Urban dance for adults, whether you’re starting or coming back

Plenty of people come to urban dance late, once they’re working or studying, or stopped for years and want to get back into it. In a one-week intensive that doesn’t matter: classes are open to every level and everyone takes from them what they can. You don’t have to go to all of them. People have come from 14 countries, and each teacher teaches in Spanish or English with simple vocabulary, so you don’t need to be fluent in either.

Classes by day, dancing by night

Mornings and afternoons are for class: choreography with teachers from Spain and abroad, and the style changes with whoever is teaching (hip hop, house and locking were some of them in previous years). And outside class, this is what the last edition had:

  • Networking on the first night, so you start the week knowing people.
  • Jams to keep dancing with no routine to learn.
  • A bingo night.
  • The Showdown, an afternoon of battles: there’s a prize and entry is separate.
  • The Showcase: pieces by people at the camp and by the teachers.
  • And to close the week, a party on the beach.

Accommodation, food and what your pass includes

  • Your pass covers every class and activity, the access wristband and a welcome gift.
  • Accommodation and food are separate; how and where is explained with the venue.
  • Tell us who you’d like to stay with, or come without a group and we’ll assign your accommodation.
  • Getting there: a UTOPIC bus will run again from Barcelona (the airport and Sants station), and Girona–Costa Brava is the nearest airport.

FAQ

Do I need experience for an adult dance camp?

No. Some people have just started and some have been dancing for years, and everyone goes at their own pace. You decide how many classes you take each day.

How old are the people who come?

Mostly young people: most are between 18 and 25. Some come with their crew or dance school, others on their own.

Can under-18s come?

Yes. Under 16, they need their family’s consent and must come with an adult staying at the campsite; at 16 or 17, consent is enough. Nobody supervises outside class: the camp is made for adults.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Last edition the week opened with a networking night for exactly that, and if you come without a group we assign your accommodation taking gender, age and where you’re from into account.

When is it and how much does it cost?

UTOPIC IV takes place between August and September 2027 in Spain. Dates, venue and prices: published on 20 December. Once places open, you can pay the whole pass, put down 50 % or split it into monthly payments until July.
